I was reading Linda's response to Christine about the fico scores and she said that a charge off, when paid off, can be scored as a recent and therefore bring a score down. Did I understand that correctly? I think I need to go through my credit reports now because, although we filed a CH 13 bankruptcy, some of our debts are listed as both, "charge off" and "included in Ch. 13 bankruptcy".I wonder what they are being scored at. Well one says "Account History"- BK Ch 7, 11, or 12 10/31/1996 to 12/31/2000." What does all that mean? Another entry says: Discharged through Bankruptcy CH 13/ past due 90 days" so I am being hit twice there, a late payment history and a BK. Another one says: "Debt included in Ch 13 bankruptcy 09/02/2001 to 09/02/2001", that one has the date all wrong. And several say: Payment after Charge off/collection/ Chapter 13; wage earner plan account" Should I let some of them go as they will fall off late next year anyway? Or are they hurting my score now? I can't even get a secured card to rebuild my credit. (although Linda advised me to try a credit union, which I am going to do).
