Didn't even ask about what they are going to report it as - should I/can I ask for something specific at this point?

I had intended to pay 2 installments on it and then call them and ask if they would accept XXX amount to settle in full? (or should I just pay the full amount?)

He is supposed to be sending me a payment agreement in the mail. I asked him if the account was sold to them or if it was assigned, but all I could get out of him was they are a lawyers office and we were just about to send this up for a judgement and blah blah blah. I still don't know if they are a debt collector (the pre-recorded message said they were) or if the account was really sent to an attorney's office. I think they rely on that confusion factor to try to scare people.

From what I understand the account has been sold several times. I don't even think they could validate if I had asked. Stupid on my part, but it is my account and I need to get it taken care of to clear up my credit report.
