Scheduled to drop off in 2005 and I live in Jersey, credit card account sold in 1998.

I assume by what you wrote that I can still request validation at this point? But I am thinking that by making a payment to them I have reset my "clock". All a mute point, I guess, because it is mine and I do have to get it taken care of. It will prevent me from getting employment in the field that I want. It has already showed up on one pre-employment check.

A little confused on why paying it wouldn't end collections on the account. I understand that if I settle they can sell the amount I didn't pay - if I do pay in full it should show up as a charge off paid - right??


I will be sure to call them tomorrow and ask how it will be listed once I pay - followed up of course with a return receipt letter.
