Charge Off with a balance owing?

DH credit report has one older account listed as a charge off but still says: Balance: 488. and past due amount: 63.
This account is with a collection agency, the collection agency is not listed on the credit report.
I had called the original creditor on this account and they told me the date of last activity was in 95 but of course the CRA have that information all wrong. But I am concerned with this past due amount still showing, as the other tradelines my husband report had were all reported as a 0 balance. (not paid)
How can they say its a charge off and still have a past due amount listed? Thanks for any help or ideas.
