The standards for establishing the original date of delinquincy are different for debts incurred before 1997. The pre-1997 requirements are vague and tend to favor the creditor. Refer to the FTC opinion letters under Credit Laws on this site. I would dispute it with the CRA. If it is close, they may drop it from the report, rather than investigate. Christine is trying to be helpful, but she must have missed the fact that your CO is pre-1997. Donate the money to a charity if you feel guilty.
