If I pay off the bank one account.............help!!!!!

My ex screwed me over on purpose with a check card joint account I thought I was off the account. I know my fault. I'm going to just pay it off. I ahve the money. I have another account--can they close that even though I paid off the other one? Chexsystems is great for bad people --terrible for nice people. I think they started in Russia or something.
