The statute of limitations for filing a lawsuit on a credit card debt is 6 years in N.Y. Look at your Experian report and see when this debt is scheduled to come off, subtract 1 year, if you are beyond that date you have a defense against a lawsuit.Don't put your $$ under the mattress, find an ABSOLUTELY TRUSTED person( family member ?), open a joint account with their name and ss# as primary.
