Most third-party insurance companies have a 12-month time frame to pay claims. If you contact the insurance company and they verify for you that they were not billed, then you can go to the hospital with that, "If you didn't do your job, don't come after me." Unless they are total morons, they should adjust it. I have experience on the hospital side with that type of thing, and that is what we always did. It is absolutely mind-boggling how much the hospitals write off because of their own negligence. That is why we pay so much for healthcare, because hospital business office employees, for the most part, don't care about doing something right, especially something so straight-forward and simple as filing a claim. Good Luck.
