I'm a little confused by your post by I'll throw out a few suggests nonetheless as I too am in Michigan and use CenturyTel. 1) I'd start paying CenturyTel by cash/check each month from now on just to separate the whole Discover/CenturyTel mess. When you figure out what's going on with Discover and CenturyTel, then you can decide whether or not to get rid of either company. My only other suggestion would be to get a debit card for your checking account if you wish to keep the convenience of automatic billing (or even see about having CenturyTel take it right out of your account). I do that and for me personally, it's convenient and I don't have to worry about missing a credit card payment or anything like that. Also, some creditors will close all the accounts you have with them when one account gets jacked up so that may be why CenturyTel turned off both phones. It's happened to me with credit cards.
