Fraud - Sent Validation Request - now what ?

Reviewing college daughter credit report identified a Sprint PCS referred to collection for $3,000. Not hers thinks may have been past room mate. Filed Police report and fraud statement to the collection Agency with a Validation request. Forwarded this all to Equifax disputing and asking for investigation. 32 days no response from the C Bureau Just received lett er fro CA in accord with FFDC Act, Title VIII they have forwarded dispute to client and I should deal with them. PLEASE advise. This is stopping us from a Senior college student loan aquisition.
