Disputing Old Charge Offs After BK

I will try to keep this fairly short, if possible. I declared bankruptcy in '97 for over $250,000 in credit card debt, most was from fraud on my accounts. Being only in my mid 20's, I did not know what else to do, so I paid on the debts for quite some time, until I just couldn't any more. Anyhoo, I am trying to refi my house from 8%, and am being quoted this outlandish rate. Should I dispute the debts and charge offs and try to have them removed or should I leave well enough alone and suffer for the next few years. My current credit is not bad (1-30 day late in the last year on my home and a few 30's on my car note from last year or more). One bank said the charge off notations are hurting me more than the BK. If I could get these off, my FICO would not be too bad. Any advice?
