I don't know what kind of "lawyer" told you that workman's comp settlements are attachable -but he is WRONG. They are protected in EVERY State, all you have to do is have the bank or company holding the bond or account notified, in writing,and put on your records that the proceeds are from the settlement.In some States even CIVIL settlements from accidents are exempt.
Pay nothing,what State are you in and I will let you know your exposure in a judgment,(judgments are not all that bad in some States for some people)
