You appear to be functioning on some assumptions which are not accurate. She did not agree to pay the SEARS card which amounted to $1,000 at the time of the divorce trial. The court ordered her to pay the bill since she continued to use the cards in the interim prior to the divorce trial. She had confiscated the cards at the time I left, and SEARS would not allow me to remove her from the account or other accounts until the divorce decree was finalized or as long as there was an outstanding balance. Those credit cards for which the court held her financially responsible she retained. The bills went to her address. I wasn't notified of the delinquency until well after the debt went to collections. As to "deserving," neither is ruining someone's credit presumeably for spiteful revenge.

At any rate, I don't need a lecture about what I should have done but rather what to do to be held harmless for a debt which I am not responsible.
