Honestly, no telling. Who is the OC? Some keep better records than others. Another thing to keep in mind is that they usually only partially validate, when they think they have validated. They usually send a printout of the account covering a limited time period, but are always trying to collect a higher amount than what you see on the printout. If they send you something like that, then they really haven't validated, because that doesn't prove the account is yours.

If they send the printout, plus proof it was you who opened the account (including signature), a statement of charges added, checks or other proof that you were paying on the account prior to chargeoff, then I would say they pretty much gotcha - but I doubt they will do that.
