I have about $75,000 unsecured debt, but I own a home in Florida. A few months ago I was injured in a workplace accident, and right now I'm collecting WC. I was self-employed, by now I lost my business too besides since I was a furniture mover, and I'll possibly have a back surgery, I cannot go back what I did before.
I was thinking about selling my house, and keep the small equity for rainy days, but I probably need to file BK 7 sometime soon, since collectors breathing down my neck.
My question is, that if I sell the house and THEN flie BK, can they sue for that money I made on the sale of my house. I also have a motorcycle (valuable), and I don't want to lose that either. I'll probably move to a smaller apartment until I recover, straighten out my financials and start with a clean state, but before I do anything , I need to know what are my options. The debt, once again is all unsecured , the mortgage was always paid in time.
