If you have no other debts, and can afford to pay this off in full over a period of time,you may be able to work something out. In general, in Texas (and other debtor friendly States) if someone offers to settle for less than what is owed, they usually get sued because the lawyers figure you have assets you are protecting.If you have no assets subject to judgement,you can write the lawyer and tell him you are not able to pay anything at this time and see what they respond.
