I know now from this board that that is the case...I was young and dumb at the time and didn't understand what settling meant. I just felt lucky that I could pay it all off sooner than I thought. Had I known, I would have insisted on keeping up the monthly payments and paid the whole thing. I settled this 4 years ago, and heard nothing until now, so I didn't know I owed anyone anything. I did send a cease and desist as part of my validation letter. I just didn't know what to do now that they haven't really validated (as far as I can tell.) I don't know the date of the original delinquincy...it didn't show on my credit report. How do I go about getting that date? I think it was sometime in 1997.
