They were threatening me with legal action prior to my validation letter. They hadn't sent me anything by mail until I sent the validation/cease and desist...I had only received threatening phone calls. The last one they left said I shouldn't bother to call anymore, that the matter had been referred and they would only speak to someone representing me. I then looked them up on the internet, since I never got a notice with their address, and sent them the validation/cease and desist letter. I then got the response I first posted. I don't want to pay these scum for an account I settled with Capitol One 4 years ago, but I don't know that I have a choice. I don't have the money (around $2000). I am trying to avoid a lawsuit, and trying to avoid paying these scum.
