Actually, it would not free up any money because we are not paying on any of the old debts he has. The SOL is up...we live in Kansas and the SOL for open debts is 3 years...I love my state for that! We both have learned our lesson on credit, I rehabed my school loans, only 10 thousand, though, and cleaned up my report enough to buy a house. But, I am watching very closely what credit I have and make it a habit not to get in over my head again. The only thing that could mess it all up is like the Dept of Ed taking like 4 or 5 hundred a month in garnishment.
