Good news and bad news. The bad news is that the CRA is right about 2 things... unfortunately you can have multiple entries for the same item depending on how many collection agencies have tried to collect and they, the CRA, don't have to validate the debt. You get validation by writing to the collection agency. By the way revolving and open ended are the same thing. The CRA must verify an entry if you dispute it. You would have to dispute discover's entry and any other entries as well by any collection agency that was reporting the same debt.
The good news is that regardless of when the collection agency got the account, all the entries pertaining to it on your report must be deleted 7 years from the charge off date for a debt prior to 1997. That means all those entries should fall off next year regardless of when they were placed or who put them there.
