I live in the state of Georgia. I heard that your wages cannot be garnished from a judgement if you are head of household. Does anyone know if this is true? Also how do you prove you are head of household? I file head of household on my income taxes and my husband file married filing separate. Certain utility bills come in my name, etc. There is a suit pending (credit card that hired collection attorneys) and likely the judge will rule (long story)on their behalf. Also if the judge (yes we have been to court) rules in their favor could I appeal the decision? Would it be cheaper to appeal of file bankruptcy ($13,000. with fees, etc., original debt $5000.00)? My credit score is 609 (not that great) and I am really considering filing due to this pending judgement. Anyway how soon will they try to collect? Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
