They can claim the "statement" is the validation you requested. Did you dispute the debt along with your C&D and validation? If so, they should have notified the CRA's the account is in dispute.They are not required to "prove" that YOU signed a contract with them, only that they are legally collecting for the OC or have purchased the account from them.
