Thanks for your help. This was a direct loan through
the university. I know that they could not be
refering to the principal balance since they charged
me ~ 50% in interest (like loan sharks,huh?) and
the settlement included every thing except 1/2 the
interest. I've gotten the collection agency to
admit that it's been settled and they're passing
the info on the the collection agency. I hear
that I should still follow through legally for the
university may not be that willing to admit their
mistake.
