At the moment you are not able as a consumer to
receive your credit
score. However if you apply
for a home mortgage or car loan many times the lender will tell you your score. Credit inquiries does lower your score. Too many inquires in 30 days will automatically provoke a denial with some credit card lenders. The effect of inquires on your overall score is very detrimental. You should not apply for credit at least 6months before a major purchase like a home or car. For your next question, some lenders a strict and some are lenient. Some are prime and some are subprime. Citibank is pretty much a prime lender. They are not most strick but they arenot as subprime as Providian. Subprime lenders provide cards for those with troubled credit past. If you have had late pays in the past
believe it or not that is considered bad
credit.
This lowers your score. It is a score killer like a charge off or bankruptcy, but late pays do lower your score. The good news is that after 2 years they
have less effect. There
are new sites popping up
which offer your report and an analysis of your
report with a analysis score.
