Harrassment

I have many of the same problems that other people have.
Back in 1996 I let someone use credit cards to purchase
a motorcycle, which he failed to pay off. I think the
last payment was made in 1997. I have tried to get him
to pay it, but to no avail. Mostly because at this
point the creditors are being ridiculous in their
expectations. The debt has been sold many times over.
It's at about $4,000 on one card and $2,000 on another.
My name was never on the title of the bike, so there's
nothing for them to reposes, even if they knew that's
what had been purchased.

They constantly call my mother's house looking for me.
I do not appreciate that and have tried to dissuade them.
(She does not know about the debt and I would like to
keep it that way.) Okay, to the real point. My only fear
is that there is truth to their threats that they will
"report this to an attorney". I've been told this is an
empty threat, as they have been saying this for years
now. Is it true? Should I be worried?
