As a followup to my questions about the date of
last activity, I have read the FCRA, and it
appears that the current rules only apply to items
placed on a credit report after 1/1/1998. For
items placed prior to that date, the only thing I
can find anywhere is that "the items will remain
for 7 years from the date of last activity." Which
does nothing to explain how the "date of last
activity" is exactly determined for items placed
on a credit report prior to 1998. So basically I'm
curious now as to how the rules are different for
items placed before 1/1/1998 as opposed to the
current rules which seem to only apply to items
placed after 1/1/1998. All of my problems originated
from 1994-1996, and all but one have since been
