: I HAVE BEEN CONTACTED BY A COLLECTION AGENCY
: FOR A CREDIT CARD BILL THAT HAD A LAST ACTIVITY
: DATE OF 1989. THEY WANT TO SETTLE FOR 50% OF THE
: OUTSTANDING BALANCE PLUS INTEREST BUT HASN'T THE
: STATUTE OF LIMITATIONS RUN OUT ON THIS DEBT? NO
: JUDGMENT HAD EVER BEEN FILED ON THIS DEBT. CAN
: THEY PROCEED WITH ANY ACTION AGAINST ME OR LEGALLY
: REPORT THIS INFORMATION TO MY CREDIT FILE? (THE
: DEBT HAD DROPPED OFF DUE TO AGE OF THE ACCOUNT)

Specifically a lawyer collection agency. I have
secured a loan to pay the full amount of the debt.
I disputed the amount of the debt, because I was
paying the creditor through a Consumer Credit
agency for one year. The company never sent any
statements showing what was being paid, but they
kept the money. Now they donot want to give me a
balance, they are acting as though the account was
never paid. When I figured out that being in a
Consumer Credit agency was not helping. I stop and
call all the creditors and told them that I would
be paying them. This particular creditor was told
that they would be paid in full, but the lawyer
wants to garnish wages even after being paid in
full. I can not afford a lawyer so I am asking for
advice on how to handle this. The Creditor is MBNA
and North American Capital who receive the money.
Please help me if you can with infomation.
