I recently went to a car dealership to look at new
dodge neons. The first thing the salesman wanted to do
was to run a credit check to "be sure I qualify". I
gave verbal agreement to this but signed nothing.
I later found out that doing a credit check lowers your
rating, and the FTC has issued some law (in 98) telling
car dealears to NOT run checks until a purchase price
has been agreed upon, so I was angry and wish to take
action. Am I screwed because I gave verbal agreement?

I went there today to ask for my application info back,
but they refused. Do I have any recourse? Do any of you
know of links that I could look at to see my rights in
this situtation?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Wade Lutgen
