You get mugged "several times" when you are targeted by mugger(s) on more than one occasion. What I am doing "wrong" that makes this kind of thing a repetitive occurrence is carrying on with life even though limited to public transportation to get to and from anywhere. Except for 1993, when I was mugged twice in one month, these incidents spread out over years. Didn't mean to give the impression it's an everyday thing, if I did that. It's merely an everyday hazard of going to work and coming home or going to the grocery store and coming home, or doing anything else that requires leaving my residence. As to "just" moving to a "safe" neighborhood, that such a place exists is an illusion. You are always relatively safe or relatively endangered. And yet, when it is all analyzed and laid out -- I am still more likely to be run down in a crosswalk by a yuppie looking out the left hand window while yacking on a cell phone than to die prematurely any other way. Whadda world, huh? Lucy
