I live in SC and I received, a letter last week from a local Attorney, stating that my Discover Card Account has been referred to his office for handling. The letter states that Verification of this debt, a copy of judgment or the name of the original creditor, will be provided if requested in Writing, within (30) days. They state that they will not discuss this debt over the phone. It also says, that the fact that I have (30) days to dispute may not prevent them from filing a lawsuit within that time.

The closing remark says: This communication is from a debt collector and is an attempt to collect a debt.

I have not paid on this acct. for over 1yr. During the last week of may I received 12 statements all on the same day. (yes 1 years worth of bills) I had, in the past asked Discover Card to please work with me and to delete the finance charges and/or interest but they refused to help so I quit paying.

Do you have an example of a letter I could send to the attorney? Cease and Desist???? or should I just lay low. If I am head of my household does that count for anything??

Thanks
Ashlyn
