Since you are in the Big Apple, you obviously are not a homeowner, nor likely to be a car owner.A judgment stays enforcable for 20 years in NY, so long after these debts disappear from your credit reports, the judgments will still be public record that anyone can pu;; up on the internet. If you wait to file BK until lawsuits are filed and on record, you will not be able to get the record of the judgments expunged.Future employers may pass you by with a garnishable judgment on record and you will have to produce proof of your BK discharge to show the judgments are unenforcable.SO, the answer is simple and painfully obvious, there is nothing much a judgment can do to affect you in the immediate future, but in the long run, it will hurt you more than taking BK now -before they have a chance to file for a judgment.
