There is NO garnishment allowed in S.C., so you don't have to worry about your wages being garnished.If you have a lot of equity in a home, car or other property, they may be liened. If you have a checking or savings account, funds may be taken out of that AFTER a judgment is obtained.I don't know how much $$ you are talkng about, but it is likely,since it is Discover, that they WILL file suit if it is more than $1,000.There is no "form letter" that I know of to send to the lawyer. It will do you no good to dispute the account as Discover is VERY good about providing their lawyers with all records. S.C. has a short 3 year SOL, and I assume from your post you first got behind on the account about 2 years ago, or less.You can try responding to the lawyer and state that you are NOT disputing the debt, but that you have no assets or bank accounts (if that is true) and any judgment filed against you would be unenforcable.
