I do not believe the lawyer is allowed to actually negotiate,it would be considered a collection activity. If you are sued, there will be an opportunity for a mediated settlement, this involves settng up a payment schedule, but does not generally involve a reduction of the amount to be repaid.Discover does NOT do things the way some other cc cards do, they have a strict set of guidelines,and I have never seen them waiver.
