If you have a judgment against you filed in the same County as your home, then it acts as a lien on your property. The fact that the judgment is in your name, and the house is jointly owned meant that they could not ENFORCE the judgment while you both owned it. BUT, you cannot sell the house without getting the judgment satisfied, it doesn't matter if you only had a 10% interest in the house, a judgment is against your ownership interest, there is no way any buyer will accept a property with a judgment lien outstanding on a joint owner.Usually, a judgment is paid out of proceeds at the closing, see a lawyer.
