Why chat, what should I do?

Received letter from attorney. Open account. SOL not up until next year. Account has been sold a couple of times. Had a debt with OC who is not listed on letter but creditor that account was sold to is listed as OC. Balance is incorrect but I did have account in question. Should I send validation letter or Cease and Desist letter? At this point I don't know which would apply. I read on one post where you suggested one person not send a validation letter as it could cause long term damage to consumer once debt is validated so I'm trying to get the best answer for my scenario. Please help.
