Thanks for the info. I've been to the site. I have loans from two schools. The first defaulted while I was in the second. (Sold to Sallie Mae, who somehow didn't get word I was in school) Yes, they are a beast.

I should be finished rehabbing the first; but, the CA screwed me over (set my due date after the date that the guarantor set). So now I'm making my 18th payment this month (should only be 12!!). I would like to rehab the second (which are direct loans), but do not want to go through the CA (though it is a different CA), but ED won't discuss it. They send me to the CA. ED did give me a name to call if the CA tries anything.
