For your information, my 'screwed' reference was to the IRS. But, I feel like I was screwed by Chase. I had an excellent credit rating and had not been behind on any of my payments, when I received a letter from Chase saying they were raising my interest rate to what I considered an unfair and exorbitant amount. When I called to ask why, I was told that each year Chase reviews a customers credit report and based on the information can raise your credit limit. When I told the guy I had no 'bad' info on my credit report, he said they can do it for many reasons (the example he gave me was if a person got another credit card). I have learned a lot about credit card tactics since that time and wish I had never seen one. Yes, I fell victim to not 'reading the fine print' which is what they count on to lure you in with a low interest rate and then raise it. I also found out that credit card companies are the ones pushing the new bankruptcy laws. Sorry, Mr. Observer, I have no sympathy for any of them. Obviously you do and you can shed tears for them if you want.
