I applied for a mortgage loan and was approved provided I paid certain debts and charge offs before closing. After recieving and reviewing my credit report I found that several items had been first reported by one CA then sold or transfered to another with the first one still showing open and unpaid. I also found one significant account that was not mine and when I called the creditor it was my name but a different birth date and different SSN. They said they would delete it from my file. There are others that I don't know what they are so I called the CA to ask them to send me some kind of proof that it was my account like a copy of a signed contract or reciept of services. I was told that the only time I could ask for that proof was in the first 30 days that "they" had the account or 30 days from when they claim to have notified me. That was supposed to be in '95, they show last activity in '96. Is this true and since there are several accounts I'm not sure what they are am I wrong to insist on proof that it is my account. The agency I talked to said that the records I was asking for were in storage and they didn't think they could be found. Is it just too bad and I have to pay these because someone says they are mine or else give up my home loan or is there something I can do? Thanks for any assistance you can offer, Rick
