Thanks for the reply, WhyChat.
CBSA has validated sufficiently--according to THEM with a copy of my medical bill. They were notified that the acct was PIF by the DR's Office some 2 months ago, however no notation has been sent to the CRA's as of yet.
My main problem centers on the fact that the collection letters that CBSA sent to me had the incorrect OC listed. They said that this was a 'typo' and had no bearing on my rights under the FDCPA because it was an honest mistake and it was obvious that the account was mine and the amount was accurate. Only the very last letter I received from CBSA had the correct OC listed (they just corrected their typo)--but it did not contain my rights to dispute the validity of the debt or any language similar to that. Basically only 'pay this amount, your silence will not help you. The ONLY way to improve your credit rating is to pay this amount in full. This communication is from a debt collector' Very short and sweet.
I know I have them on numerous violations--but I have to take some time to go over everything meticulously before corresponding with them again.
The CRA's only verify the account as accurate, because as far as they know there never is/was any mention of the incorrect OC. Should I include copies of the letters from CBSA (CA) to the CRA's with the incorrect OC listed as part of my re-dispute, or should I just re-dispute hoping for more violations?? My only real goal is to have this deleted from my reports, however I am willing to pursue this as far as necessary (including filing suit) with CBSA because they have blatantly violated my rights. Thanks again for all of your helpful replies and insight. This board has been a real life-saver in helping me to get incorrect information removed from my CR's.
