ok...i just got an annoying phone call from a bill collector regarding a citibank visa account...got in CA-1999-now live in NC.....she would not say who her 'company' was...i asked her why i received nothing by mail and she said they have sent numerous letters to my address (she had the right address, but i have not received a letter from them since 1999.)she told me that in order for me to stop her phone calls, i had to send a letter to her 'company' in writing, but never would identify her company. She seemed upset at the whole mail concept and kept saying that she did not see how we could get anything accomplished that way...I told her to send me a letter and she said she would forward it to the legal department if i did not respond to their letter within 30 days.....what should i do...i do owe this, but don't want to restart the reporting clock by paying it, nor do i want to get sued (i think it is still possible) the debt is for 1000 dollors. it was origionally a $500 credit card and the interest added the other $500. what is my next step...should i get a lawyer??
