My wife received a letter from CAMCO stating that she owed a debt purchased from Chase Manhatten Bank in the amount of 9000 dollars. My wife knew she did not owe this debt, but some of the information this company had concerned her so she told me about it. I immediately called this CA. When I told them I was sending a certified return receipt letter requesting information from the original grantor I was told I had no morals and was probably responsible for the Enron crisis then they immediately hung up. The next evening while I was away they called and talked to my wife again. This time they made threats and convinced her to settle with a 400 dollar bank draft. When I came home I called the bank and put a stop on the draft and told her never to talk to them again. Even if it was a valid debt who in there right mind would pay a debt they know nothing about. This company's tactics should not be tolerated. You have a right to know what your paying for and who your paying to. I have sent complaints to the FTC and BBB. I also sent a carbon copy of the notification letter to the BBB.
