Providian to Gulf State to Midland

The debt that I recently settle with Midland followed this path: Providian -> Gulf State -> Midland.

One one credit report, Gulf State removed their entry for the debt, and Midland added it as PAID. Providian has it as a PAID/Charge-off. But, on another report, it's the same, except Gulf State has added it as PAID.

Considering that the debt was settled through someone else, should Gulf State's entry even be there? The last person I spoke to at Gulf State gave me a number to call to have it removed, but that number is always busy or has the longest hold time EVER. So, I can't tell if it's a run-around, or if they know they have to remove it but make you do all the legwork to get it done.

Should I even waste my time on that?

Thanks,
jeje
