Have you messed up with Citibank? If your have very old paid negatives, and a good record with providian, you are perfect for the Citi card.

If thee is a reason why you can't apply there, let me know, I will try to find an alternative, but I am pretty sure they would give you a card.

As far as overdraft protection, lay off inquiries unless absolutely necessary, they lower you socre, and at your stage, they lower it a lot. You need to get one card that will accomodate a BT, at a reasonable rate, and you should try to make sure it is a card you can get so you don't waste inquiries.
