Thanks, everyone. As I mentioned before, they (the bank) uses Trans Union. We've always paid cash for everything-saves on the interest and the bother of making monthly payments-but does nothing for building one's credit. I had thought that by borrowing money from them and making timely payments all these years I would have good credit. I never bothered to try for a credit card or cell phone till this year. I had a son attending SMU in Dallas and as I am about 3 1/2 hours away I thought it was time for a credit card so that I could call ahead for hotel reservations when I needed to make the trip. Imagine my surprise when I was turned down because of no credit! I have written a letter to the President & CEO of the Bank (not yet mailed) but as of this morning when I learned from a bank employee that they tried manually submitting my credit report was told by Trans Union that they could not do it manually, I will wait till Monday to call Trans Union. Anyone know what is involved in reporting credit by tape? What's the big deal? Does it take a machine the bank may not have? It still gets me that they will accept bad reports manually but not good reports...thanks.
