Of course, I had been reading on the board where as soon as yu begin to try cleaning up your credit woes, collectors will awaken. Anyway, here goes......I had a revolving account with an OC in 1994. First went delinquent in about 96-97. They sold the account to another creditor in 1998. Although I was still paying, I was aware that it remained in late pay status. The account was then sold to another company in about 1999 who charged it off in 2001. I hadn't heard anything from anyone for a couple of years until last week when I received a letter from an Attorney (with address in TX and AL)who states their client it S&P Financial. I have old credit reports stating that the account was past due with the OC back in 1998 since I was dealing with another issue at that time. I've also noticed that as the account has switched hands over the years, it has also been re-aged although I know it was never caught up. Anyway, my question is, I am in VA and Am wondering what should be my next move? I read a post about what sounds like the same Attorney, and S&P as the CA so I waas wondering if there was something you could tell me to help me deal with this Attorney. I had a validation letter all sealed up until I read this post which sounded like the ones that have sent me this letter. My underlying situation may be different from the other poster so I gave a little back ground into my particulars. Please respond asap as you know of course the letter has the 30 day time limit in the disclosure. Thanks.
