I finally have my FICO score up to 763 and think everything is going great and finally today in the mail I get this...

A letter from GulfState Credit/ OSI "validating" my supposed debt. I first requested validation from them on January 31, 2002 and just now do they send me this. (I have sent them various letters since Jan and just got form letters back) What they sent me was a copy a "preapproved acceptance certificate" for a visa card and a copy of the last statement [no actual purchases on statement, just late fees, etc.]. I admit it does appear to be my handwriting on the paper, but I dont recall ever filling this out #1 and #2 I dont recall ever getting this card and actually using it!

They reported it months ago (thats how I found out about it) to Experian and Equifax. Experian took it off after the 30 day investigation and it has never reappeared. Equifax took it off but kept putting it back when GulfState kept on reporting it. I took Equifax to small claims for reinserting and they were ordered to "supress" the tradeline to make sure it doesnt appear again. So I am thinking that I dont really have to worry about it coming back again on Equifax, and I assume Experian "supressed or cloaked" it the first time. Now I just got a copy of my Trans Union and this account is showing up (reported in may) now on Trans Union. Since GulfState has a history of not responding to these bureau initiated disputes, I'm going to dispute it with TransUnion and see what happens. Worse comes to worse if they take it off and reinsert it without notifying me I guess I could do the same to them as I did with Equifax? (Sue in small claims)

I just really dont know what to do. It does appear to be my handwriting on the "certificate" but like I said I really dont remember ever getting the card and using it. Do I stand any chance if they take me to court or something? The debt is for $4800. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

PS: Can I use the fact that it took them since Januray to validate and I was the one who contacted them first to my advantage or??? Thanks for the help!
