Charge-offs and bankruptcy reporting

I have more than one account on my credit report showing as charged-off. Since this will be reflected on my credit report for 7 years, would it be just as well for me to file Chapter 13 bankruptcy since it is also reported 7 years, or should I try to pay these accounts off over a period of time if possible?
