Husband in a world of hurt

My hubby is self-employed and hit and miss on the income. First found out how bad his credit was when we tried to buy a house. Ouch! I could qualify on my own but I felt it was best to wait a year and try to fix some problems. It also gave me time to work on 1 bad ding on my credit report so that I can get a better loan deal. He also is working on an Offer and Compromise with Uncle Sam. Right now he is working with a Credit Counseling and I just do not get a good feeling about this solving the problems since he is so far in debt. He pays around $650/mo to the CC and who knows what will be the outcome with the IRS. He can never get ahead! He really doesn't want to do BK, I feel the CC will get him nowhere fast, and the list goes on. I am worried that all this will eventually catch up to me and my credit will be affected. We do not have any credit together. Any suggestions? We live in CA. Thanks!
