I've seen too many people get a HEL and pay off the cards and then, run the cards right back up. PLus, why pay for that cruise or whatever you used the cards to buy for the next 15 years? Your best bet is put the cards away and start paying off the cards as aggressively as possible. Live below your means and quit charging.
