I think you're grasping for straws.

When your Mom filled out an application for the card, she requested the account. Most cc applications have a tear away section for the application and the rest is the terms and conditions. The account number is the code First Select is using since they are either the owner or, been assigned the account.

The second point refers to the transactions with the orginal creditor. Everytime you used the card for goods and services, you obtained funds.

There is little you can do. Your mother needs to see a lawyer. She is the one who must respond. She should ask the lawyer about the advisability of sending a validation letter but, I doubt that'll do much good. Someone will ask why were you trying to pay Fleet if this is not your account?
